Adult Drawing & Painting Class Description
Drawing Classes
Whether you are interested in sharpening your skills or drawing for the first time, drawing is a necessary skill for a variety of art techniques. Learning to see in terms of lines, shapes and values is a necessary skill required to describe 3-dimensional forms on a 2-dimensional surface. Take this class if you want to bring your painting to the next level or are beginning to explore the visual arts. As well as learning to draw, you will learn HOW TO SEE. The class will cover line, perspective, composition, value, handling edges, and comparative measuring.
Painting Classes
Working in oil, students of all levels will acquire important tools to approach oil painting with confidence. Students will learn the basics of value-pattern, composition and color while working from life. Class will begin with a demonstration followed by individual attention and support. Each class will begin with drawing and a discussion of the tools used to achieve a careful rendering of the still life and landscape. Students will learn the importance of "seeing" and communicating color, light, and atmosphere in their paintings. Much of the class will cover line, perspective, composition, value, handling edges and color theory.
